600.1This from CNN, fellow traveler of ABC. The morning after Kamala Harris and Donald Trump’s first debate, it is far from clear if Trump will agree to a rematch. Trump is not committing, and his overnight comments suggest he is not serious about a sequel.
600.0Less than an hour after the ABC News presidential debate ended Tuesday night, Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign called for another matchup, laying down a challenge to former President Donald Trump. The campaign put out an email touting her performance at the debate and blasting Trump for his responses and demeanor. WOW! Just like in boxing, the loser immediately wants a rematch.
599.0Harrisnomics at work. The number of people working full time has shrunk by a whopping 1.5 million in the past year, according to the government’s regular survey of households. At the same time, the number of people working part time has increased by an even larger 2 million during the same time span. The U.S. is adding largely lower-paid, part-time jobs and is losing full-time, well-paid jobs.
598.0Must be caused by global warming or climate change or whatever it’s called this week. The first chill of winter will bring snow to parts of the US as bitterly cold winds spill in from the Arctic. Temperatures across Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Montana this week could hit record lows. Snow has already hit the Colorado mountains, with more on the way through the start of autumn.
597.0U.S. discount retail chain Big Lots filed for bankruptcy Monday as Biden-Harris era inflation continues to weaken consumer spending and push retailers out of business. The bankruptcies and job losses come as inflation has driven consumers to spend more selectively. The prevailing economic trends have been particularly challenging to Big Lots.
596.0A bipartisan group of New York City council members is calling on Gov. Kathy Hochul to temporarily suspend ’sanctuary’ policies amid concerns about terrorism and crime from newly arriving asylum seekers. In a letter to Hochul, the nine-member Common Sense Caucus urged the Democrat to issue an emergency order that would allow New York City to temporarily waive its sanctuary city laws.
595.0On Sept. 5, U.S. District Judge Randal Hall in Augusta, Georgia, issued a temporary restraining order against President Joe Biden’s second effort to cancel student debt for millions of Americans. The administration was expected to publish its final rule on its revised student loan forgiveness plan, which could impact more than 25 million Americans, in October.
594.0House Republicans are taking an offensive posture in the two month lead- up to the presidential election, a move that could bloody the waters around Kamala Harris and running mate Tim Walz before November. GOP-led House committees will begin a series of hearings that appear to aim at holding Democrats’ feet to the fire for policies implemented under Biden that Republicans say harmed the public.
593.0The U.S. economy hemorrhaged manufacturing jobs in August despite Biden’s attempt to boost the industry with more than $400 billion in subsidies. The number of people employed in manufacturing. fell by 24,000, with the industry down 14,000 jobs year-over-year, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Manufacturing employment has grown .3% since the Inflation Reduction Act was signed.
592.0VP candidate Tim Walz said that those protesting American support for Israel’s war against Hamas are doing so for “all the right reasons,” as the Democrat ticket looks to balance support for Israel with the humanitarian plight of civilians in the war-torn Gaza. Walz’ comments came in an interview with a Michigan public radio station, a state with a large Muslim population that is swing state.
591.0Bill Gates, one of the world’s richest people, said he’d be much poorer, would have paid more taxes if he were in charge of the US tax system. The multi-billionaire Microsoft founder said that he’s a ”huge believer” in more progressive taxation, said he doesn’t believe wealth should be concentrated in families because of past successes. Gates is a hypocrite. He could have paid a greater amount.
590.0Bidenomics (now Harrisnomics) at work. The number of job openings in the U.S. fell more than expected in July to the lowest level in more than three years. The Labor Department’s Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey reported 7.6 million job openings in July, the lowest since January 2021 and below the 8.1 million openings expected. It revised down the number of job openings in June by 274,000.
589.1This illustrates what politics by Kamala Harris has come to. Trump made an invited visit to Arlington where he marked the third anniversary of a suicide bombing that killed 13 U.S. troops during the chaotic evacuation of Afghanistan overseen by President Joe Biden. Federal law prohibits election-related activities at military cemeteries. But that didn’t stop Harris from politizing the visit.
589.0Gold Star mom Jaclyn Schmitz criticized Biden and Harris for ignoring her invitation to honor deceased Afghan vets in a memorial at Arlington National Cemetery. ”It’s a spit in the face,” Schmitz said. ”A slap in the face. I’m frustrated with this bunch. They don’t acknowledge that our kids died on their watch. Then they say that Donald Trump politicized this when it was us that invited him.”
588.0The next time you hear the broadcast voice drone, “This is PBS,” imagine him saying, “This is DNC.” Because if the 2024 convention coverage by the Public Broadcasting Service is a sign of its policies and politics, PBS is firmly in the Democrats’ pocket. PBS went overboard to portray the Democratic National Convention as joyful and the Republican National Convention as a demonstration of racism.
587.0Where Kamala Harris goes, problems follow — but never responsibility. While credit and promotions have been hers, nothing has ever been her fault. For example, Proposition 47 has been a disaster for California. Even as California descended into criminal chaos, Harris remained silent despite her prosecutorial background. Her refusal to accept responsibility has been her political modus operandi.
586.0Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota has personally appointed members to the state’s teachers board, a body that will require educators to ”affirm” their students’ gender identities, have ”racial consciousness,” and learn to ”disrupt oppressive systems,” public notices show. If ever we needed confirmation that the Democrap party has gone hard left, this is it.
585.0Regarding the exit from Afghanistan, it was an unmitigated disaster. 13 Americans were killed. From the embassy to the emergency airlifts to the Taliban running roughshod over Afghanistan, everything the Biden-Harris bunch told us was wrong. So naturally, NPR decided it was Trump’s fault. NPR tried to absolve the Democrats, including the Biden-Harris administration, of any direct culpability.
584.0The World Health Organization (WHO) set up an organization to develop an international pandemic prevention protocol. Biden and Harris, eager to cede U.S. authority to global bureaucrats, began working with the WHO to draft an agreement to cooperate on the next pandemic and place U.S. health policy under an international organization, including “Equity” and “Inclusiveness” in pandemic response.
583.1Just like Biden, Harris, and Mayorkas, Governor Polis knows exactly what is going on and why. But he and they is/are too agenda-driven, arrogant, selfish, and ambitious to admit it.
